Getting the most from your massage treatment.
3 things to do before and after getting a massage
Nourish yourself
There is no set rule for how much water you should drink or food you should eat before a massage, but it is important that you are well hydrated and your blood sugars are balanced before heading into your session.
Dress comfortably
Most people prefer to leave their massage session wearing comfortable, loose-fitting attire. If you're coming from work or are not able to wear something more casual to your appointment, bring a change of clothes with you.
Communicate
Tell your massage therapist what your reason for coming in is, even if it's just for relaxation. And don't be afraid to ask your massage therapist for what you want both before and during your session.
Ground yourself
After massage, you might feel very relaxed—so much so that taking a few deep breaths and drinking a glass of water will help ground you back into your body.
Stretch
After an hour-plus massage, your body and mind are fully relaxed. You should avoid anything strenuous on your body, but light stretching like a 15-minute yoga flow can actually help extend the benefits of your massage.
Relax
Try to schedule your appointment at a time when you can relax once you're done. Some relaxing activities you can do are reading, meditation or even napping.
